#McFactz: #ReasonableDoubt Pulled From #Spotify, #Tinashe Talks #NickiMinaj vs #Iggy, #TheBookOfYeezus
Jay Z’s classic debut album is no longer available on Spotify but it now can be streamed on the new Tidal platform. Jay says that one of the reasons he and other musicians joined for Tidal was because other streaming services had an unbalanced profit sharing system with the artists. Taylor Swift pulled all of her music from Spotify in 2014 and now her catalog is included on Tidal. Tidal is separating itself from other streaming services by providing exclusive content like new songs. Rihanna and Beyonce have released new music exclusively through Tidal already.
“You guys may have seen some of the stats like, Aloe Blacc had a song that was streamed 168 million times and he got paid $4,000,” said Jay. “For us, it’s not us standing here saying we’re poor musicians. If you provide a service, you should be compensated for it. And not just artists — just think about the writers and the producers.”
Tinashe was supposed to hit the road with Iggy Azeala on Iggy’s “The Great Escape Tour” but when the tour was pushed back the singer lined up with Nicki Minaj for “The Pinkprint Tour”.” Tinashe also says that she did a song with Iggy but when Iggy started receiving backlash during the height of the “cultural appropriation” criticism she fell back from social media for a few days because she’s not used to that level of backlash. In an interview Tinashe was asked who’s music she preferred more between Nicki and Iggy. Due to her full discography Tinashe said she would go with Nicki. Check out the interview!
Kanye West has called himself a God more than a couple times. He even has called Jesus his role model saying that he grew up wanting to be “like Christ.” Now there is The Book Of Yeezus! In the book God’s name is replaced with Kanye or Yeezus and now the book is on the market. The book is only The Genesis chapter of the old testament, so expect a quick read. The book is only $20 dollars and the authors of the book said ..
“What if the Bible, the most singularly significant publication in the ancient canon of Western tradition, were updated to reflect our modern society? What would it look like? …In a sense, Kanye’s awesome and orchestrated spectacle is truly a religious experience.”

Looks like the original Freeway Rock Ross has turned his story into a documentary. Freeway: Crack In The System will air on Al Jezeera America on Sunday, March 8th at 9pm. The documentary will center around the 1980’s drug kingpin Freeway Ross and Gary Webb. Gary Webb was the journalist that broke the story about the CIA’s alleged involvement in trafficking illegal drugs into the US. Sounds like a pretty interesting documentary. Will you be watching this one? Check out the trailer below!
Nicki Minaj has a few words and explains why she views Kanye West as “The King.” Now we all know Nicki Minaj has more bars than a jail cell. We also Nicki Minaj has more bars than a lot of male rappers. Aside from working with some of the top names in music the Queen of Rap took a moment to shout out a musical peer as music royalty.
Recently Kanye West gave Minaj praise and said that she out rapped him on his “Monster” track off of his My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album. Nicki responded by saying ..
“It’s sort of amazing. I keep saying that Kanye – he gave me an amazing opportunity, and because of that I feel like he outshines everyone. He puts people in a position to do better,” said Minaj. “When you are an artist and you can do that for people, then you are the king. You are the one. And that’s how I look at him.”
Minaj says she did not expect any other artist besides Lil Wayne to give her a huge platform like “Monster.” Many have said that her verse on the track was her breakout performance on a record.
Remember that verse???

Last night in Minnesota, Kobe Bryant passed Michael Jordan on the NBA’s all time scoring list. It took Bryant 1,269 games to reach this milestone which happens to be 197 more then it took Jordan to achieve the scoring total. Kobe now only trails Abdul- Jabbar and Malone in career points. Kobe was quoted saying … “I’m just honored to be here, man, to still be playing,” Bryant said. “I appreciate being able to play this long. Careers normally don’t last this long. I really appreciate the opportunity to still be out there playing and performing and doing what I do.”
Nicki Minaj did a Pink Print press run interview with DJ Whoo Kidd and addressed rumors of problems within YMCMB which came from Lil Wayne saying he feels like a hostage when it comes to Cash Money Records. Nicki made it clear that no matter what she is riding with Lil Wayne and how Birdman has always been a great supporter of her business decisions. Nicki was quoted saying.. “When you’re at the top, there’s only one place to aim at,” Nicki said in reference to the media’s portrayal of the perceived cracking in YMCMB’s foundation. “Love conquers all. I do know that, no matter what, we’re a family. We’re not always the bestest friends, but we love each other underneath it all. I know Wayne and Baby love each other. And I know they’re going to resolve anything that needs to be resolved.” Minaj also went on to express that Jay Z is one of her biggest influences and recently she saw him and he said how much he loved Chiraq and Looking Ass Nigga by her. Nicki said it is upsetting that people won’t give her the deserving credit as an Emcee when she has the biggest rap guy giving her props. The Pink Print is in stores now and is currently number 1 on the HipHop/Rap charts. Listen to the interview below!
Last night DAngelo dropped his first album after 14 years. The title of the album is “Black Messiah” and features 12 songs with no guest features. The R&B legend was quoted saying … “Black Messiah is a hell of a name for an album. It can easily be misunderstood,” “For me, the title is about all of us. It’s about the world. It’s about an idea we can all aspire to. We should all aspire to be a Black Messiah.”

Last night the 2014 Soul Train Awards aired on TV. There were plenty of awards given out and the most talked about moment was the last performance of the night. There was a “Femcee Comeback” performance of 1997’s Ladies Night including Lil Kim, Da Brat, and Missy Elliott. The three were joined on stage with YoYo, Mc Lyte, Total, Salt n Peppa, and Lady Rage. Almost everyone looked the same from back in the day! When Left-Eye’s verse came on she was shown on screen from the old Ladies Night video. Were you excited to see the old women of Hip Hop on stage again? Looks like they still got it right?! To see the video CLICK HERE
