Looks like the original Freeway Rock Ross has turned his story into a documentary. Freeway: Crack In The System will air on Al Jezeera America on Sunday, March 8th at 9pm. The documentary will center around the 1980’s drug kingpin Freeway Ross and Gary Webb. Gary Webb was the journalist that broke the story about the CIA’s alleged involvement in trafficking illegal drugs into the US. Sounds like a pretty interesting documentary. Will you be watching this one? Check out the trailer below!

Nicki Minaj has a few words and explains why she views Kanye West as “The King.” Now we all know Nicki Minaj has more bars than a jail cell. We also Nicki Minaj has more bars than a lot of male rappers. Aside from working with some of the top names in music the Queen of Rap took a moment to shout out a musical peer as music royalty.

Recently Kanye West gave Minaj praise and said that she out rapped him on his “Monster” track off of his My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album. Nicki responded by saying ..

“It’s sort of amazing. I keep saying that Kanye – he gave me an amazing opportunity, and because of that I feel like he outshines everyone. He puts people in a position to do better,” said Minaj. “When you are an artist and you can do that for people, then you are the king. You are the one. And that’s how I look at him.”

Minaj says she did not expect any other artist besides Lil Wayne to give her a huge platform like “Monster.” Many have said that her verse on the track was her breakout performance on a record.

Remember that verse???

jcole

This year in 2014 no hip hop or rap project has managed to break the 200,000 mark in first week sales. J Cole might be the artist to pull the biggest one week sales for hip hop this year. The North Carolina native’s 3rd album 2014 Forrest Hills Drive is predicted to sell between 240,000 – 270,000 its first week. Which surpasses 179,000 for Rick Ross’ Mastermind album and 148,000 for Shady Records’ Shady XV.

Kendrick-Lamar-6

Kendrick Lamar is the latest rapper to cash in on an endorsement deal with Reebok. In a new ad campaign by Reebok the video lets fans go through Kendrick’s hometown of Compton, California while wearing a fresh paid of Reebok Ventilators and rapping a verse. Kendrick has been a Nike supporter so it’s no surprise that KDot got the deal. Expect to see the limited addition Ventilator styles in June of 2015.

adidas

Earlier this year three of Nike’s top designers decided to leave the super brand and went to work for Adidas. Nike is now suing the trio for $10 Million dollars. Marc Dolce, Mark Miner, and Denis Dekovic are responsible for some cool sneaker designs you have seen from Nike. Nike says that the trio copied designs and business documents from their computers and claim the new Brooklyn Creative Designs Studio is a copy of their Innovation Kitchen design lab.
